World Wide Rave Review!

My copy of David Meerman Scott’s new book, World Wide Rave arrived in the mail a few days ago and I must admit, I was puzzled by the size of the envelope. Pretty skinny, nothing like, the one that carried Guy Kawasaki’s Reality Check a few weeks ago. I opened the envelope and I was in love. Something about the size and shape of the book (and the cool jacketless hardcover) made me want to jump in right away, which I did, right in the car. I carried it everywhere with me for a couple of days, on the subway last night, I even thought, I should write my name in it, ’cause I’ve become possessive about it…
Kudos to Doug Eymer who designed the book. Awesome.

From the second I opened the World Wide Wave, I felt energized. I’ve read David’s last book, The New Rules of Marketing and PR. And while it was clear to me in that book that David knows what he’s talking about and has tons of great ideas, this new book actually vibrated energy and action and elicited an almost emotional response. OK, that sounds weird…

What was so great about World Wide Rave is it is SO focused. It’s not a PR encyclopedia, not an “everything you ever wanted to know about publicity but were afraid to ask” book, but a fast paced energetic “you can do it too!” guide to how to create a world wide sensation about your stuff. I interrupted my mini Seth-a-thon (I was in the middle of Free Prize Inside, just on the heels of finishing Meat Ball Sundae– don’t worry, back to Free Prize tomorrow–my favorite is All Marketers are Liars, no that’s a lie…) to read David’s book cover to cover and I’m planning to read a few pages out loud to my clients who keep insisting on hiring SEO companies–I love that David tells the reader to just go out there and create compelling content and spread it organically. Tons of great stories, 6 direct “Rules of the Rave” and I love that he reminds the reader every few pages that you can do it too, because he senses that we’ll dismiss his examples as being OK for the other guy, but not us… Why not you? Why not me?

You gotta grab a copy of this book. You can’t borrow mine, ’cause I’m not letting it out of my sight!

But I do have 3 copies of David’s book to give away, so send me a comment (don’t forget to first input your name and email address in the box at the side). Deadline: Thurs March 5, 2009 5pm EST.
