Forget Flowers and Chocolate. How ‘Bout…

I’m always intrigued by how the little guys, everyday Joes, find ways to get mega publicity so if you hear of anything, send me the scoop!
Here’s a cool one:
You know how radio stations are always giving away free CDs or concert tickets or a lifetime supply of fruit rollups? I remember my first time winning something from a radio station. I correctly identified the song Venus and won an Aretha Franklin single, Band of Gold. Those were very exciting times, but certainly not newsworthy.
Charleston, West Viriginia radio station, WKLC, attracted international publicity today, for its Valentine’s Day giveaway. The contestants, weren’t vying for a Band of Gold –actually pretty much the opposite. The 1500 people who wrote in were looking to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style with–get this–a free divorce! Rock 105 and some lawyer type, who kicked in 10 hours of his time, drew the attention of CNN, Fox and even Yahoo Asia and Reuters India. Not too shabby.
