I don’t have a toaster…
By tsufit on Sep 30, 2007 in About the Author, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Public Speaking
I don’t have a toaster, a microwave, a kettle or any of those other new fangled modern gadgets. I boil water in a pot on the stove, toast bread in the oven, like nature intended– I’m a simple girl. So no one is more surprised than I am to be announcing to the world that I have a blog!
I had no choice. Since putting the pen (mouse) down on my new book, Step Into The Spotlight!–’Cause ALL Business is Show Business! (Coming April 2008, Beach View Books www.stepintothespotlight.com ) I keep coming across more and more cool stuff I want to tell you about. So it’s either the blog or run to Barnes and Noble every day (long run since we don’t have B & N up in igloo country) and scribble notes in the margins of the book.
It’s kinda neat how it all came about, the book, the blog, the career… When I was a kid, I watched a lot of TV. I always wanted to be an actress. But according to my parents (“Actress, Schmactress!”), that wasn’t practical. So I became a lawyer, a litigator, the actor of the legal profession. I put on shows, in costume (don’t get me started on the black polyester robes…) for judges in court.
11 years ago, after giving birth many many (many) children, I had that Peggy Lee moment, “Is That All There Is?”, so I left the law, (kept the kids), and decided to follow my dream. I became a professional actress and singer and ended up doing stand up comedy on national TV. I got lots of media attention, so next thing you know, “the suits” start coming to me, corporate types, CEOs, financial planners, accountants, asking me to show them how to be more dynamic and attract business.
That’s when it hit me– “ALL Business is Show Business!”
For the past several years, I’ve been coaching entrepreneurs and CEOs to be stars, speaking at business conferences, all using stuff I learned as an entertainer and from all those years watching TV as a kid.
This blog is going to be devoted to helping you become a star, the star that you already are. We’ll talk about marketing, publicity, speaking in public, confidence, branding, positioning, but it won’t be the stuff you’ve heard before. We’re gonna talk about how to put some “show” into your business.
I’d say more, but I gotta go milk the cows…

Sounds like you have some pretty good experience – I look forward to reading about it. Thanks for the link in your blog roll! I’ll make sure I add you to my RSS and I wish you good luck as you step into the blogosphere.

Thanks for your warm welcome Rashid. Looking forward to it. (Actually, maybe that’ll be the name of my next book, “Step Into The Bloglight!” Maybe not…)

I met you at the Ladies who Launch LIVE event which was awesome. Your blog looks great and hey “Step into the Bloglight” could just be an extension of what you do now. We need to talk, I need to dig in the LWL bag and find your card.
I look forward to reading your blog.
